The iconic Farmhouse Inn overlooking the Ottauquechee River is located west of Woodstock Village within 15- and 30-minutes’ drive of the Killington and Okemo ski resorts, respectively.
Known locally as the Robinson Farm, after the family that build the handsome home and legendary barn shortly after the turn of the 20th Century. The property has been converted by the present owners into a gracious and authentic rural farm environment for vacations, weddings, and other events large and small.
The historic 1908 Farmhouse Inn offers accommodation in the 7 Guest Rooms, all with private baths and gracious gathering room on the first floor overlooking the surrounding farm. The 3-bedroom Innkeeper’s quarters provides private living space.
Historic photos and the original blueprint for the classic barn demonstrates how thoughtfully the structure was integrated into the hillside site. It was constructed in the style of a ‘bank barn’ with grade level entry points to the different levels of the barn where they serve a variety of agricultural needs and purposes. These barns are normally 3+ stories in height, however, the remarkable 48’x78’ ‘Red Barn’ rises a full 5 stories above the river valley floor.
The massive timber frame is exposed on all levels with the upper two having been adapted for use as an event venue hosting up to 150 guests for weddings and other of life’s celebrations The uppermost level is a vast open area nearly 40’ high as a dramatic backdrop for true traditional barn dances.
The nearby White Barn accommodates 50 guests for smaller ceremonies, rehearsals and other events with a wide deck providing a place of seasonal outdoor dining.
The 13 acres of open land and convenient location offer the potential to create a farm-to-table restaurant, direct-to-consumer shop selling local and regional goods or an immersive Agri-tourism guest experience.
Less hospitality-oriented uses as a gentleman’s farm or niche farm producing and marketing goods like organic vegetables, cheeses, herbs and spices and ‘homemade’ consumables like proprietary sauces are outstanding options.
Life at the Farmhouse Inn is limited only by imagination and rewarded everyday as you enjoy the changing season’s and this peaceful place in the heart of Vermont’s Green Mountains.
In many ways, Vermont is the getaway state. As one of the country’s least populated, it’s the place to get away from traffic, congestion, noise and even visual assaults. You won’t find a billboard on its highways. They’ve been banned since 1968. In getting away from it all, however, folks find much that draws them in.
