Jim Buffum

Jim Buffum was born and raised in the resort business. His family owned and managed the Weekapaug Inn in Westerly, RI and the Manasota Beach Club in Englewood, FL. Traveling to Florida for the winters and to Rhode Island for the summers was described by Jim's father, Bob Buffum, as 'the best of all possible worlds'. In 1996 Jim and his wife, DeeDee DeVore Buffum, purchased the Weekapaug Inn from his family and became the sole owners and managers of the business with the stated goal to 'maintain, improve, and cherish' the Inn. They placed the building on the National Register of Historic Places, received all necessary environmental permits, and completed architectural plans for the next generation of the Inn. In order to complete the project and stay true to their goal, they sold their interest in the Inn to community members with a similar vision of the future. This lead Jim to step into the world of real estate and further his education in business and hospitality. In 2012, Jim graduated from Johnson and Wales University with a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Hospitality Marketing.
